Gozo

Gozo

Gozo lies in the heart of the Mediterranean, forming part of the Maltese Archipelago, 60 miles due South of Sicily. Gozo has a typical southern Mediterranean climate with long hours of sunshine both in Summer and Winter. Only three hours away from any European destination, this island is at peace with nature making walking, biking, swimming and scuba diving an ideal way to while away the time whilst enjoying a truly relaxing holiday. It’s no wonder one always leaves Gozo with a heavy heart and a burning desire to return. The moods and pace of life are dictated by the seasons, fishing, agriculture and holidaying. In winter and spring, the Island is covered with flowering herbs and lush crops. In summer, it’s inundated with oleander, bougainvillea and geranium.

History & Culture

Gozo has a rich and colourful history, as long as it is varied! With many of the traditions and folklores still intertwined in the culture, from Homer’s Odyssey to the infamous Baroque churches to the colour and light of the summer ‘festas’ which are said to have evolved from pagan beliefs!

There are many places of interest for the discerning visitor from the neolithic temple of Ggantija, Calypso’s cave to the many museums, housed in Palaces left over from the legacy of the Knights.

All of this can be tempered with visits to both beautiful sandy and rocky beaches, with crystal clear turqoise seas with abundant marine life. The diving in Gozo is amongst the best in the world and attracts visitors from all over.
